At Essential Energy, innovation is at the heart of how we’re shaping the future of energy for regional, rural, and remote New South Wales. As the energy landscape rapidly evolves, we’re committed to exploring and trialling new technologies that support the clean energy transition, enhance the customer experience, and unlock the full potential of our existing infrastructure.
Our innovation program focuses on practical, scalable solutions that can be deployed across our vast network. From reimagining how we use our poles and wires to integrating electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, we’re testing ideas that could redefine how energy is delivered and used in our communities.
Through innovation and technology, we are actively delivering benefits to our customers and communities by supporting the energy transition.

Innovation and technology are providing benefits to our customers and communities. An example today was the launch of our first Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger in a composite pole in Port Macquarie. These chargers combine innovative technology with public infrastructure which will potentially allow councils to roll out new public EV chargers in convenient locations at a cost-effective scale, providing wider accessibility and convenience to residents and tourists. The four-week trial is a partnership withWagnersandEVX | Sustainable EV Charging Solution. Thanks also toPort Macquarie Hastings Council. For more information, please read the full media release.
