Essential Energy has formed a Vegetation Management Consultation Group (VMCG) between Essential Energy and interested NSW Councils.

The group will work on developing a set of strategic guidelines to share vegetation management responsibilities equitably between Essential Energy and regional and rural NSW councils.

This page will provide an avenue to:

  • Prompt and promote an open dialogue between members of the VMCG;
  • Disseminate information regarding VMCG meetings and outcomes; and
  • Strategically plan for the future of network improvement programs in relation to vegetation management with participating councils.

Essential Energy recognises the amenity value of trees to local streetscapes, their importance to the local environment and the vital role councils play in managing streetscapes for the communities they represent.

Accordingly, both parties need to balance community expectations with legislative, risk mitigation and fiscal responsibilities when undertaking vegetation management near the electricity network.
