Reconciliation in Action


Essential Energy’s depots, people and communities are located on the lands of 46 First Nations, each with their own rich stories and cultures. With the recent approval of our First Nations Strategy, we are committed to genuine engagement with Traditional Owners and fostering strong relationships with First Nations communities.

This Strategy ensures that First Nations voices and perspectives are elevated, especially when our projects interact with Country. As part of this approach, we will actively increase our engagement and consultation with First Nations communities across Essential Energy’s footprint, focusing on genuine listening, respectful conversations, and co-designing benefits to support First Nations communities throughout the energy transition.

  • Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)

    Our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) strengthens our ongoing commitment to Reconciliation, building on the positive steps we have been taking for many years to build relationships and create opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It includes a sustainable program of activities that seeks to strengthen our relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and employees – to empower social, economic and cultural wellbeing.

    Our RAP inspires our efforts to grow mutually beneficial relationships, unites our initiatives to advance Reconciliation, enables our employees to build their understanding of and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, brings transparency to our Reconciliation efforts and will enable us to celebrate successes and learn from challenges.

    With our network area covering 95 per cent of New South Wales and parts of southern Queensland, we have many opportunities to contribute positively to Reconciliation. Our network overlaps with 29 First Nations and our people are based at depots and offices in 100 regional, rural and remote towns and cities. We live and work in the communities we serve.

    We recognise the importance of an inclusive and diverse workforce in which all voices are heard, and the potential of every employee is realised. By creating such a workforce we can positively influence Reconciliation in regional communities.
