About the power pole AC EV charger trial

    How long is the trial?

    The Power Pole AC EV Charger trial will run for three months from Monday 7 July 2025 until Sunday 12 October 2025 inclusive.

    What happens after the three-month trial?

    After the three-month period, the charger will be removed, but the composite power pole will remain in place for potential further trials.

    Who is involved in the trial?

    We have partnered with EV charging company ChargePost and composite fibre technology company Wagners to custom design a fully integrated Power Pole EV charger for the trial which has been installed at 142 – 144 Nancy Bird Walton Drive, Kew within the Port Macquarie Hastings Council area.

    What is the EV charger’s power rating?

    The charger is an AC charger. Charge rates accessible to vehicles will depend on the vehicle and cable used.

    Do I need to bring my own cable (BYO)?

    Yes, you need to bring your own cable to use the charger.

    Is there flexibility to slow down charging during peak periods?

    At present there is no slowing of charge rates for the trial site. The site was carefully selected to ensure there is adequate capacity in the streetlight circuit. Future trials may look to control charging when network capacity is a constraint.

Cost

    How much does it cost to use the EV charger?

    The charger is free of charge for the duration of the trial (from Monday 16 June 2025 until Sunday 21 June 2025 inclusive).

Parking

    Is there dedicated parking for EV charger?

    Yes, there are two 2-hour car parks (9am – 6pm) reserved for vehicles using the charger.
