Reminder: only use materials from suppliers listed in CEOM7004 Standard Contestable (Approved) Materials List on Essential Energy’s network

What is happening?

Recent inspections have found that non-approved materials, for example service cables, have been installed on Essential Energy's network. This is a reminder that unless you obtained written approval from Essential Energy's Engineering team you must install materials from suppliers listed in CEOM7004 Standard Contestable (Approved) Materials List, approval for non-approved material or alternate suppliers will only be granted in exceptional circumstances.

If non-approved materials are found on the network:

• A defect will be raised against the affected service.
• The Accredited Service Provider (ASP) will be required to replace them with approved alternatives.
• The ASP remains responsible for any related rectification work, delays and costs.

To avoid unnecessary rework, delays and defects, ASPs should confirm materials are on CEOM7004 Standard Contestable (Approved) Materials List prior to procurement and installation.

What do you need to do?

1. Communicate this information to relevant members of your organisation.
2. Review the current CEOM7004 Standard Contestable (Approved) Materials List and ensure only approved materials are selected and installed on Essential Energy's network.
3. Be aware that defects will be raised against affected services where non-approved materials are installed, and ASPs will be instructed to replace non-compliant materials with approved alternatives.
4. Where approved materials are unavailable from approved suppliers, seek Essential Energy approval for alternative materials prior to installation.
