About the Streetlight Electric Vehicle (EV) Charger Trial

    How long is the trial?

    The Streetlight EV Charger trial will run for four weeks from Monday 13 May 2024 until 10 June 2024.

    What happens after the four-week trial?

    The EV charger will be removed from the streetlight column. The streetlight will remain.

    Who is involved in the trial?

    We have partnered with EV charging company EVX and composite fibre technology company Wagners to custom design a fully integrated streetlight EV charger for the trial which has been installed at 1 Clarence Street, Port Macquarie, NSW with the support of Port Macquarie-Hastings Council.


About the EV Charger

    What is the EV charger’s power rating?

    The charger has a power rating of 7kW (approx. 40km / hour).

    Do I need to bring my own cable (BYO)?

    Yes, you need to bring your own cable to use the charger.

    How do I use the EV charger?

    Is there flexibility to slow down charging during peak periods?

    At present there is no slowing of charge rates for the trial site. The site was carefully selected to ensure there is adequate capacity in the streetlight circuit. Future trials may look to control charging when network capacity is a constraint.

Cost

    How much does it cost to use the EV charger?

    The charger is free of charge for the duration of the trial (from Monday 13 May 2024 to Monday 10 June 2024).

Parking

    Is there dedicated parking for EV charger?

    Yes, there are two 4-hour car parks (9am – 6pm) reserved for vehicles using the charger.
