Essential Energy is seeking expressions of interest in joining the Essential People’s Panel (EPP). The panel is made up of everyday customers who provide feedback to help shape priorities, decisions and long-term plans for the future of our electricity network.

The panel includes people from a mix of backgrounds, locations, ages and life experiences across regional NSW and we are looking to add to the existing group to ensure we have a strong and diverse representation from across Essential Energy’s geographic footprint. Your perspective is valuable and you don’t need any prior knowledge to take part.

What does the Panel do?

Panel members come together a number of times during the year to discuss key issues, explore trade-offs and provide advice that helps shape Essential Energy’s planning and decision making. Past panels have provided feedback on topics such as pricing, reliability, energy transition, customer experience and future investment priorities.

What is involved if I participate?

Panel members are generally appointed for a two-year term and participate in a mix of online and face-to-face engagement activities throughout the year. Activities may include:

  • Interactive workshops and discussion forums face to face in Sydney
  • Online engagement sessions
  • Reviewing briefing materials and proposals
  • Providing feedback on customer and community impacts
  • Participating in surveys and follow-up activities

Members are expected to actively contribute, review information provided in advance and engage constructively in discussions.

You will be paid for your time. Travel and accommodation will be provided by Essential Energy.

You’ll join around 25-30 panel members, including existing members and new recruits, to ensure a balanced and representative group.

Who are we looking for?

We want the panel to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve. To help us do this, we ask all interested people to complete a short demographic form. This information is used only to support representative selection. No specialist skills or experience are required.

We're seeking people who:

  • Are aged 18 years or older
  • Live in, or operate a small business within, Essential Energy's network area
  • Can commit to participating over the life of the Panel
  • Are interested in representing community and customer perspectives
  • Bring diverse experiences, backgrounds and viewpoints to discussions

We are particularly interested in hearing from people who are passionate about their community and want to play a role in shaping the future of energy services across regional NSW.
