Essential Connections portal: Preparing for Basic Connections & seeking your involvement in our customer reference group.

Managing Basic Connections in the Essential Connections portal from mid-2023

Last year, Essential Energy launched the Essential Connections portal to streamline processes and deliver a better connection experience. Enquiries and Applications, Standard Connections (Design) and Major Connections are now managed in the portal. Our next step is to bring Basic Connections into the Essential Connections portal.

What does it mean for me?

Basic Connections processes will be managed in the Essential Connections portal from mid-2023. This includes:

  • Switchboard compliance reviews.
  • Non-standard approvals (NSA).
  • Protection setting requests.
  • Certificates of Compliance for Electrical Works (CCEW).
  • Notifications of Services Works (NOSW).

How can you get involved? Join our Customer Reference Group

We are setting up a small customer reference group made up of Level 2 ASPs and Electrical Contractors to get your input as we develop and prepare Essential Connections for Basic Connections.

Planned meetings: 30 minutes, end of day, every 3 weeks from February until June 2023.

Purpose: To get your input and ideas to help the implementation of Basic Connections be successful, including:

  • providing feedback on the system as it is getting built to ensure it is fit for purpose
  • getting involved in testing to confirm how it works
  • becoming familiar with the new functionality being rolled out and being able to raise any questions or concerns ahead of go live.

What do I need to do?

  • If you would like to participate in the Basic Connections Focus Group, please register your interest via email, all you need to do is send your contact details to aspinfo@essentialenergy.com.au a member of the Focus Group will then be in contact with next steps.
  • Communicate this information to relevant members of your organisation.
  • View this communication via Essential Engagement.
